Single and 30 - Introduction
Doyin's POV
My name is Doyin Inioluwa. Yes, I know you know I am a Yoruba girl, but there are six things you don't know about me.
Number one. I am six feet tall. That is supposed to mean that people will notice me right? Especially guys. Sorry, I mention guys a lot not that I am a freak or something, but I mean I am single and searching.
My counselor keeps telling me there is nothing wrong in being single. He says it is an opportunity for me to discover a lot about myself. I keep forgetting to tell him to spare me that crap. I'm 29 for goodness sake and four months to clicking the dreaded age "30". There, I said it. I almost 30.
My friend Amani (she is a moslem sister), keeps telling me that my life is boring. I know she is right. My life is a bore, not exactly something noteworthy. There is money but.....
My mates are married. This is Nigeria. When you are 30 you have finally suceeded in leaving the marriage mart.
No. 2 thing you don't know about me. I can't cook. I just don't seem to get it. I have tried thousands of receipe but no good results. I almost burnt my house on one occasion. Since then I gave up.
I have got digress a little. My ex's mother is a perfect example of a good house wife

. She is a good cook, a fashionista and an excellent event planner. The day Tega took me to her........ I have to tell you she was not impressed at all. She asked me to cook for dinner and you know what could have happened.
Did I mention Tega? Yes, I believe I did. He was my boyfriend of nine years who broke up with me to marry a younger woman. I know something must be wrong with me, I couldn't even manage to hold unto a man.
Now, everything must change. I would hire a chef and learn how to cook.
I would even change my ward robe. No more clothes that do not flatter my figure. Although, I have to confess I don't know how I would achieve that, I'm color blind. Can't see colors. All would be well.
And yes blind dates.
Read " A Bride For The Dumji Prince " by the same author ( Queen )
. That is how Stella met the love of her life. Who knows? I might just meet Mr. Right.
No. 3 thing you don't know about me
I love food. A lot. Especially Amala (yam flour) and vegetable. Amazing right and I can't cook. Who knows? Maybe if I grew up with my parents not Reverend sisters I might know those things you girls know. Like make up, cooking, fashion and house decor.
This is my plan for this year. I must meet my Mr. Right and get hooked.
Once again I am Doyin, a single
at 30+ and this is my story......
