*** Frederick sinks unto the cemented floor, groaning.

An excruciating pain coursing through his entire system.

He touches the pad of his thumb to his nostrils, feeling the wet liquid.

His eyes bulge.

Blood.

His nostrils and mouth were bleeding.. But how? He didn't remember getting hurt.

Before he could think of more possibilities as to what was happening, another pain courses through his entire system and he groans louder, clutching his belly, tightly.

His skin was peeling off around his neck, like melting ice.

Catherine let's her eyes dart from Darren to Frederick.

Her sons.

They were both bleeding.

She darts her eyes frantically between both men and for the first time in her life, she was at a crossroad.. She was in a dilemma.. As to who to go to first..

"Fre.. Frederick!!!"

"Darren!!!... Frederick! Oh my God!! Darren!!"

She moves to Frederick and then rushes to Darren, sobbing..

For a split second, Frederick lays on the floor, writhing in unexplainable pain and unable to utter a word, his entire life flashes before him like a movie being displayed on a projector.. All the girls he had rap-d and locked up In his brothel.

All the money he took from those men in exchange for any of the girls for a one night stand.

That innocent man who had come to his home demanding for the refund of his money only for him to order his men to kill the man.

. All those he had bullied and taken advantage of due to his fathers influence.. His life flashed before him and for once in his life, he wished he could turn back turn the hands of time but unfortunately, life wasn't a bag of lemons which you could make a lemonade out of.. You always reap what you sow.

Karma is and will always be a b-tch.

It will hit you right in the face when you least expected it and the worst part was, you wouldn't even have time to regret your actions because by then, your sins would have caught up with you.. Frederick coughs as he let's his eyes wander around.. Catherine.

He could see her crying but her voice seemed to be far far away.

His father stood staring at him with an expressionlesss face... He was shocked to the bone, watching both sons at the brink of death right before his eyes... Everyone was too shocked to notice that more policemen were swarming the mansion, sirens blurring loudly... The media had swamped the entire mansion, searching for juicy news to feed to people.

Elvis had been untied and sent into the compound to receive primary treatment from the paramedics..

"Darren!!!!"

Emerald brushes past Tonia who had also been untied and crouches beside Darren, wrapping her arms around him...

"Don't leave me D, please stay with me... Please"

she sobs, her tears wetting his forehead, trickling down his cheeks... Darren coughs slightly and stares up at her..

"I could never leave you Emmie.. You know that,don't you?"

He whispers, his voice strained She nods frantically, bringing her nose down to touch his..

"Stay with me.. Please.. Please D, help is on the way.. Don't give up.. Dont give up on us...Please D.... I love you so much. I love you Darren.. Stay with me please."

"Fred...my son!"

Catherine made to touch him when she was stopped by one of the policemen..

"Don't touch him ma'am.. This is now a crime scene so I will suggest you don't touch him please,until the ambulance arrives"

Frederick could hear the voice of his mother screaming and requesting for them to allow her get near him and he wanted to reach out to her, to wrap himself in her embrace but he couldn't.. He couldn't even lift a finger... He coughs again, blood sprouting out... Frederick lays helplessly as no one dared touch him because of how his skin was peeling off especially around his throat and upper chest.

He was suffocating.. He needed to breath, but somehow he couldn't.. Dark spots started to form in his vision and there and then, he knew his time had come.

The must painful thing on earth was to see your death right before your eyes and all you do is lay helplessly waiting, waiting for the icy hands of death to engulf you.. Was this how all those he had murdered felt like before they breathed their last?

Was this how it felt like?

If so, then he wanted everything to be a nightmare just so he could apologise to all those he had wronged.. Including Emerald and Belinda.. Wait! Belinda!.

Frederick rolls his eyes painfully and that's when he spots her, the maid he had r*ped staring at him from outside, smirking triumphantly and by the look on her face, he knew it.

She had poisoned his wine with diluted acid and now here he was, his skin peeling off right before...

. Frederick suddenly chokes again, and this time thick blood gushes out of his mouth like a tap... Belinda... He wanted to say sorry... He wanted to apologise to God.. But he couldn't even speak.

His voice box had been destroyed by the acid... More blood gushes out of his mouth and nostrils and he let's out a final loud cry of pain as the poison took over his system and he finally gave in to darkness.

'I'm sorry'

Was all his mind could register before he breathed his last, giving into the pain eating him up, his mouth hanging open.

His eyes widely open, staring into nothingness.. Belinda stares at Frederick's dead body one more time before walking back into the house....

A/N

You never know what tomorrow brings, so love while you can, forgive while you can. Frederick had the chance to realize his mistakes but it was already too late. He didn't have the chance to say sorry even after realising it.. But You have that chance now, so make use of it because Had I known, is always at last.
