The Emerald Chase - Episode 32

Darren was taken aback by her sudden outburst.

He opened his mouth to speak when Frederick interrupted.

"Hey sup!! Oh she's the one you were waiting for...hmmm pretty she is"

"Shut the f*ck up Frederick!"

"Why? can't I appreciate a beauty when I see one? Hmmm.... She's beautiful... Very"

He smiles and extends his hands for her to her shake... She could see that look in his eyes.. The look of lust... He was eyeing her hungrily and licking his lips.... Fear gripped her.. Without a second thought, she turned and took to her heels, running,ignoring Darren calling out her name...

Darren alighted from his car and run to her doorstep.... He knocked once, twice, no response... He knocked again and again but there was no response.. He run his fingers through his hair.. He just couldn't understand why Emerald had run out like that... How could things have gone so wrong? He was planning to propose to her that same night but then his wicked father and annoying brother had destroyed everything....

"I'm not leaving here till I speak with you Emerald!! Please open up!!"

He screams, hoping the door would open and it did...

"You?"

"Please man, let me see your sister please... I don't know why she run out of the party.."

Elvis looks at him..

"Sure"

He steps aside and he enters..

"She's in her room.. Second door to your left" Darren nods and runs in that direction.

He opens the door to see her seated on the floor crying.. His heart broke..

"Emerald"

he whispers and she suddenly gets up

"What are you doing here?"

"To see you"

He steps closer and touches her face.

She hits his hand away.

"Please leave"

"But why? What did I do wrong.. Tell me baby"

"Don't call me baby!!!!!"

She yells

"Why can't I? Don't you have feelings for me? Don't you feel the same way I do? I love you Emerald.. I'm madly and insanely in love with you.."

She turns away and let's the tears flow... How she had longed to hear those words from him.

"Leave Darren"

"Why? Don't you love me? Don't you even feel a thing?"

Emerald wipes her tears and turns to face him

"No.. I feel nothing for you... Absolutely nothing. I don't love you and I never will.... You're just a daddy's pet who wants to do everything in his power to please his father!! I never felt a thing for you Darren. You were just a mere distraction!!"

"And...and...the kisses we shared? The...the dates.... All the......the..."

He chokes unable to get the words out

"They all meant nothing okay!! Nothing... I mean it was just mere kisses.... It wasn't my fault you got emotionally attached"

"But.... Emerald.."

"Emerald nothing!!... Just leave!! Get out!!! Never come back okay.. You don't have a mind of your own.. How stupid of you to think I would like, let alone love someone like you huh!!! We were just friends... Get out and don't ever show me your miserable face ever!!"

Darren stares at her, his heart breaking into a thousand tiny pieces..... She never loved him? Never even liked him? He swallows hard and blinks again and again...

"Are you being serious right now Emmie?"

He reached out and touches her cheeks.. She shivers at his touch. Her knees buckled..

"I love you Emmie.. Don't push me away like this please. If there's anything I've done wrong, tell me and I will apologise. Please"

He whispers, bringing his lips down to hers... Emerald froze when she felt his lips on hers.. She was tempted, too tempted to kiss him back... But when she recalls that, he was Frederick's brother, she pulls away sharply and slaps him hard...

"Get out Mr Adams.. Out!!!! I don't love you. I never will. You were just a distraction now leave!!"

"Emerald.."

"Emerald nothing! Leave!!! Now!!"

She shouts.

"This is not you Emerald. Why are you acting this way?"

"You think I'm acting? Get this into your skull Darren.. What we had between us was nothing but fun. No strings attached. It's not my fault you decided to develop feelings for me. I don't do love Darren. Don't get things mixed up"

"I....I'm sorry"

He says quietly and walks out.

Emerald watched him leave, fighting the urge to call him back and tell him what she truly felt for him but she just couldn't... She sinks to the floor and let's the tears she had been holding back flow, crying like she had never done before.

She had lost Darren even before she could have him... He would never forgive her now.. She never meant to say any of those things.

She never meabr those words.. "I'm sorry.. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry" She cries harder, clutching her chest, the pain tearing her apart..
