Reunion
Day 3
She called in sick!
She knew she would be a mess at the office. She needed a break from life. Thank God George did not wake her up. She needed rest.
Yesterday, she saw her ugly past staring at her. To think her past could be brave enough to stand her made her feel little and vulnerable. She expected less from her past. Her past made a mock of her present.
That knock on the door last night. She never imagined! The event of last night played back in her mind.
She had opened the door only to see Phil. He was the last being she remembered. For all she cared, he should be six feet down.
“Good evening ma”.
“Good evening,Please do come in” She led him to the sitting room. Her face had lost it’s glow.
“Philemon! Mr. Phil. So nice to meet you” George said as he shook hands wit Phil. “I see you have met my beautiful wife”
“She really is beautiful” Phil replied. He then turned to her.
“You look familiar, I do not know but am sure we have met” Phil said to her.
“I doubt you have. I have spent all my life in Nigeria”. Their was this uneasiness in her voice tat seemed to soothe Phil.
“If you met her before I did, am sure you would have married her. Thank heavens you didn’t” George said
“Sorry sir, no more questions for your wife”.
She stood up and returned with three glasses and a bottle of wine

. The men were really catching up on lost time.
“You came in good time Phil, today is our anniversary” She said.
“George mentioned it to me. Congratulations love birds” he said
She poured the content into the glass cups and they toasted to love and life.
They had a good time. Except for the few times Phil made her uncomfortable wit his winks. Phil received a call and had to leave.
“I’d see you both some other time” He said.
“It’s a pleasure having you home buddy” George replied.
Phil shook hands with George. Phil hugged her.
“I know you dear” Those were Phil’s words. “Good night Mr. and Mrs. George”
So he too remembered.
Phil was the first guy she dated. She loved him, and she did too. They had plans of getting married. They during her first year at the university. He was in his final year. He was an incredible person.Three months into the relationship, they had a fight. That was when he learned from Nicolette that she was an orphan, he felt bad for her and had convinced her to close down the kiosk she was running. He paid all her bills from then till as long as it lasted. The only issue they had was his mother. The woman was not about to let her only son marry a nobody. The woman on one occasion said to her “My son will never marry you. You are a puppet”.

. That day she had come to bid Phil farewell. He was leaving the country for his masters degree.
Few weeks later, he called her. He called to call it a quit. He was fed up of the distant relationship. She asked him why? And he told her not to worry, he had all her basic school needs covered. He was going to pay her fees and all. She cried for days and called to see that things worked out fine. If only he knew she was not after the money and all.
She discovered she was pregnant. She called him. He did not want the baby. He was not ready to be a father and in his own words, “I am not the guy who deflowered you, and even if I am, how am I sure you have not been sleeping around”.
She aborted the baby.
She was not willing to risk her future.
Phil changed his numbers after that.
That baby, she had not conceived after that abortion.
Forgive me Lord!!
